HBCU Institutional Effectiveness Symposium

The Virginia Assessment Group is proud to sponsor the launch of a new professional learning community. The HBCU Institutional Effectiveness Symposium is open to institutional leaders, institutional effectiveness and assessment professionals, and faculty who serve Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority Serving Institutions. This event will bring together colleagues to build and share expertise around culturally responsive assessment and learning environments. Read more about this exciting event at:

Pre-conference Workshop on Rubric Design

The Virginia Assessment Group is excited to offer a pre-conference workshop this year. This 3-hour professional development workshop will provide participants with an in-depth opportunity to explore and discuss rubrics. Participants will hone and develop their skills in rubric design. This session will be facilitated by experts in rubric design from JMU.

Networking Lunch with Virginia Regional Accreditation Symposium

This year’s Virginia Regional Accreditation Symposium (VRAS) will be held immediately following the Virginia Assessment Group meeting, on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. VRAS invites Virginia Assessment group members for a networking lunch to kick off the meeting. Virginia Assessment group members who do not plan to participate in the VRAS meeting may add the optional lunch to their conference registration.

Early Bird Registration

Early Bird Registration ends October 12, 2018, 5:00 pm. After that date, registration fees increase by $25 for all groups except students. There is also a chance that we will hit our registration limit, so register early!

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations for registration will be accepted ten days in advance of the conference. All cancellation requests must be received in writing no later than October 25, 2018. Please email cancellation requests to Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received after October 25.

2018 Virginia Regional Accreditation Symposium 

The Virginia Regional Accreditation Symposium (VRAS) co-locates with the Virginia Assessment Group annual conference. VRAS participants should register for the event at: 2018 VRAS Annual Symposium Registration

VRAS participants who are staying overnight at the Doubletree are welcome to make reservations through the Virginia Assessment Group link to get the group rate: Lodging and Accommodations.

If you will be registering for both the Virginia Assessment Group conference and the Virginia Regional Accreditation Symposium, do not register for the networking lunch on November 6. The lunch is included with the VRAS registration fee.

Don't Forget to Vote in the November General Election

Virginia’s next general election will take place during the conference, on November 6, 2018. We encourage all of our participants to make any necessary arrangements in advance of the meetings to vote. Find information regarding the general election and absentee ballots below.
