SCHEV Presents: Day of Dialogue

Friday, June 1, 2018, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

William & Mary School of Education

SCHEV is planning a “Day of Dialogue,” bringing together faculty, staff and community partners across a variety of institutions, departments, and professional roles to discuss experiences and strategies related to teaching and assessing the core competencies required in the SCHEV assessment policy (critical thinking, written communication, quantitative reasoning and civic engagement). This day is ideally suited for those who are interested in seeing the core competencies embedded across disciplines and throughout a student’s educational experience. Although some institutions will be invited to share their own experiences as a springboard for discussion, the program will not be about learning from the “experts.” Rather, the goal is to begin (or, in some cases, continue) developing a body of collective wisdom within Virginia related to teaching and assessing each of the core competencies.

As with last year’s meeting on civic engagement, we expect to make at least part of the program available via livestream for those who are unable to travel to Williamsburg. However, given that the focus of the day is dialogue, we strongly encourage interested participants to attend in person.

Participation is free and lunch will be provided. A program agenda and registration form will be available in mid-April. Anyone interested in being contacted directly when the registration window opens should complete the interest form available here: https://goo.gl/forms/0ZLMmkqwZK4Rymzm2
