SCHEV meeting on Civic Engagement Education and Assessment

Registration is now open for the SCHEV meeting on Civic Engagement Education and Assessment, to be held on Friday, June 9, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the William & Mary School of Education. The meeting incorporates time to learn about the expectations of the new SCHEV assessment policy; hear perspectives from someone who has worked in this area at a national level; learn from colleagues about approaches currently being used at schools in and outside Virginia; and, if you choose, gather with members of your own institutional team to discuss your next steps. We hope you and/or others from your institution will join us. Although representatives from private institutions are welcome, please understand that the meeting focuses on addressing a SCHEV policy that applies only to public institutions.

There is no cost to attend the meeting. Lunch is included, and coffee will be available throughout the day. Please register by Friday, May 26 using the following link:

Some light reading materials, including the proposed assessment policy, will be sent to registered participants in advance.

If you would like to spend the night, there are many hotels at a range of price levels near the School of Education. Summer is a busy time in Williamsburg though, so you are advised to make reservations soon.

Please contact Jodi Fisler, SCHEV’s Associate for Assessment Policy and Analysis, at or 804-371-0023 if you have questions.
