Calling Virginia Academic Librarians!

Information literacy wordleA small cadre of Virginia librarians interested in learning assessment is forming under the auspices of the Virginia Assessment Group. Are you interested in figuring out assessment issues in your libraries? This group may be for you.

Library assessment means a lot of things, from collections assessment, space and facilities use assessment and assessment of library instruction. While there are several national conferences (ARL’s Library Assessment Conference or the Southeast Library Assessment Conference), those can be hard to attend or simply not close enough to what you are assessing to be useful. The Virginia Assessment Group is partnering with librarians to offer a space to gather, compare notes, share ideas and formulate a shared understanding of what each of us is doing on our campuses.

If you know of a faculty member working with a librarian on an assessment topic, have one yourself or are just interested in hearing what others are doing, please consider submitting a proposal or attending. A breakout session of some form is likely to take shape if we garner sufficient interest.

Please share this opportunity with others that might not readily know of this conference. Direct questions to Kathy Clarke at
